Q: I have many Douglas fir seedlings that sprout up on my property and I hate to pull them out. I also have a few that are a foot or two tall now. Would it be beneficial to anyone if I donated the seedlings/trees? I have maybe 12-24 or more per year, and so do my neighbors.
OSU Extension partnered with the Sagebrush Prison Project coordinators to help provide environmental and agricultural experiences to inmates at the minimum security Warner Creek Correctional Facility in Lakeview.

After learning hands-on about pplanting Douglas-fir seedlings, students took them home to plant with their families, as well as an instruction cards with information about the state tree and Oregon’s forests.
