Q: I have a two year old dwarf Asian Pear tree that I initially planted into a large (22" x 26") pot. I've decided I would prefer it in the ground (I noticed that a long root was growing from its one drainage hole). ...
Q: The straw mulch I used at the end of summer to suppress the weeds doesn't seem to be working. Should I till it and cover with plastic? black or clear? Is there something better. Or should I add more straw. I could probably bring some cardboard home from work. Is this a healthy option?
Q: I live in a forested area of Deschutes County. I think that deadfall (cut trunks laying on the forest floor) left to decompose improves the health of the forest, but I am wondering if it also increases fire risk.
