Get Involved & Enroll
We are so excited that you are interested in Polk County 4-H! Here is some basic information:
The 4-H year restarts every October. Main 4-H is for youth ages 9-18 as of September 2nd, 2020. Youth ages 5-8 can join our Cloverbud program which does not encompass as much as our traditional 4-H program. Cloverbuds are not allowed to work directly with large animals or shooting sports. We have a county-wide Cloverbud program that is very popular as well as several clubs that will take Cloverbuds and let them join in on many of the activities and meetings.
For older youth (ages 9-18), we have a “Club Contact List” that gives you a look at some the open clubs accepting new members. Each of the clubs have their own meeting times, places and frequency. You are welcome to contact any of the leaders to get more information. Check out the list below! If you need more information please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Right now most clubs aren't able to meet in person, so clubs such as archery, livestock, and shooting sports are on hold or held virtually until they are allowed to meet in person. We don't know when they will be able to meet in person yet, but if you enroll you should definitely sign up for these clubs if they are ones that interest your family. Once clubs are allowed to meet the club volunteers will contact you with information about when they are meeting and where. We still have quite a few virtual classes, such as art, baking, and gardening. For most classes we will send a kit home with you and our 4-H Coordinator will hold a class virtually guiding youth using the supplies given.
This year everyone can do their own on-line 4-H Enrollments. No more paper copies!
For New 4-H members (those wanting to join 4-H for the first time), please take the 4-H Interest survey lower down on this page. We will then contact you directly to help match you to clubs as well as guide you through the enrollment process.
For Returning 4-H members:
It is important that you follow the steps in the Family Enrollment Guide listed lower down on this page. The online system is still under construction fixing problems, as a result this guide may not follow the online steps completely.
• The link to sign-up is in the Family Enrollment Guide.
• If you need a paper copy let us know.
• Try your best and if you have problems please email Carla or Rachel at the Extension Office.
