All youth ages 5 to 19 are welcome to join and learn with 4-H. 4‑H clubs follow planned, self-directed programs in a number of project areas, including animal science, STEM, communication, cooking, art, gardening, and environmental science. Clubs may meet in a variety of locations and typically meet in the evenings and on the weekends.

The 4-H Year

The 4-H year runs from October 1 to September 30.

Enrollment opens on October 1. The enrollment fee is $40 for the year and includes unlimited projects. Shooting sports projects have an additional $10 fee for the mail-in tournaments. Discounts are available for families with three or more youths enrolling and there are some available scholarships.

Animal Project Lease Agreement 2023-2024

Members who plan to lease a project animal need to send us a copy of their lease by Apr 1. This lease form is optional. Members are welcome to use it or provide a different one of their choice. It just needs to be signed by both parties and include details of the arrangement.

ANS Starter Beef Award

This award, sponsored by ANS Cattle, provides 4‐H and FFA members the opportunity to receive a Hereford or Shorthorn cross beef female. Animals obtained through the starter program must be shown at the Coos County Fair the following year. Please see application for more information.

Bev Colvin Memorial Award

After moving back home to Coos County with her family, Bev continued the “Flinstones” geology club, which had been started by her mom. She expanded into small animals, home economics, forestry, and entomology projects. This award is presented to an outstanding small animal member. Record books and references may be reviewed for presentation of this award.

Davenport Award

This award in honor of Duke and Jean Davenport recognizes leaders who go above and beyond. Nominations may be completed by 4-H members or leaders. Completed forms should be submitted to the OSU Extension office by August 15th.
